Mistakes to Avoid when Buying Anti-static Flooring

Anti-static floor helps reduce static charge and it is not only hygienic but also a durable option. It is mainly used in hospitals, computer rooms, manufacturing units or laboratories.

Static discharge from the floor can be an unpleasant experience. It can also cause damage to electronic equipment. For instance, electrostatic discharge can harm computers or any static sensitive operational equipment. However, if you install anti-static flooring, it will provide you protection against electrostatic discharge. Hospitals and industries dealing in computers need this type of flooring for ensuring safety of staff and visitors.

This type of flooring is also useful in a place where flammable components are used. If there is no anti-static floor installed, even a tiny electrostatic spark can ignite the components. An explosion can also happen inside the industry because tiny particles of finely powdered substances are known to create dust clouds of static discharge.

There are several companies in the market that are into manufacturing of PVC flooring, anti-static floor, soft sheeting or artificial leather cloth. So, make sure you choose a reputed manufacturer for best quality products. Here are few mistakes that you need to avoid when buying anti-static floor material:
·

  • First tip is to understand terms like ESD, anti-static, dissipative or conductive. For instance, a conductive floor is not the same as static dissipative floor. If you don’t have a good understanding of the terms, you might end up buying the wrong material.
  • Don’t make the mistake of buying from an unfamiliar supplier or manufacturer no matter how much you are saving.
  • Make sure you evaluate suppliers and their warranties because even if the warranty is for lifetime, you cannot trace the supplier if the company goes out of business in next two three years.
